Steps
Before you begin
- Grip
- Keep each hand near its staff center. Name the end beside the thumb the thumb end and the opposite end the pinkie end.
- Stance
- Begin upright with feet comfortably apart. Allow the torso to turn as a staff passes the side of the body. Hands just above the hips, about shoulder width apart, with horizontal overlapping staffs and thumb ends facing inward.
- Plane
- The antispin hand follows the reel’s thumb end. The reel has one end passing in front of the body and one behind; turning the torso changes how this looks from the camera.
Things to notice
- Merely combining a reel and antispin does not create the taught antibrid unless the hand/end relationship is maintained.
- In the crank, the hand travels out and back on an arc. Finishing a full hand circle produces the basic antibrid instead.
- The introductory demonstration starts the antispin thumb end upward. The later 1-minute tutorial teaches the reverse direction.
