Steps
Before you begin
- Grip
- Hold near the staff center and keep track of the thumb-side and pinky-side ends.
- Stance
- Stand comfortably facing the practice plane. Drex keeps his feet planted while his shoulders and elbows accommodate the movement; exact foot width is not prescribed.
- Plane
- Wall plane for the explanation; the split-same reference turns through wheel plane.
Things to notice
- Shrinking the hand orbit to keep an inner tip pinned, which changes the intended extension into an isolation.
- Adding a separate wrist spin instead of carrying the radial staff with the arm.
- Assuming extension and isolation must look different with every staff and arm length.
