Steps
Before you begin
- Grip
- Hold near the staff center and keep track of the thumb-side and pinky-side ends.
- Stance
- Stand comfortably facing the practice plane. Drex keeps his feet planted while his shoulders and elbows accommodate the movement; exact foot width is not prescribed.
- Plane
- Predominantly the vertical plane in front of the body, with torso adjustments during the demonstrations.
Things to notice
- Using the word opposite without identifying whether it describes the hands or the staffs.
- Losing the horizontal and vertical relationships at the compass checkpoints.
- Forcing the briefly demonstrated isolation/extension pairing to fit proportions it does not suit.
- Assuming same-direction hand paths imply same-direction staff rotation.
