Steps
Before you begin
- Grip
- Use center grips. Together-same starts with thumb ends up; split-opposites starts with pinky ends pointing outward.
- Stance
- Cross the arms with each hand on the non-native side. Turn from one side-facing position to the other, adjusting the feet comfortably.
- Plane
- Reel passages move behind the shoulders and under the armpits while the body turns. Preserve the front/behind distinction.
Things to notice
- Uncrossing the arms while turning; the crossed position defines the move.
- Moving both staffs through the same side of the body during an entry.
- Forcing the shoulder passage without checking body clearance.
- Using the initial wrong-facing hybrid attempt at 3:33-3:46 instead of the corrected pinky-end-in version.
- Confusing the performer's right and left with screen right and left.
