Steps

    Before you begin
    Grip
Center grip throughout; keep the thumb and pinky ends identifiable.
    Stance
Begin facing the audience with space in front, behind and above; allow comfortable torso turns.
    Plane
The six reference points form an octahedron around the body: up, down, left, right, toward the audience and away. Begin in wall plane and deliberately travel through depth.
    Things to notice
    • Drawing only the four wall-plane points; toward and away are essential to the lesson.
    • Letting a plane change erase the identity of the thumb and pinky ends.
    • Sending both staffs forward during the split-same front/back variant.
    • Putting the forward thumb end below the shoulder in the split-same side passage.
    • Combining every exit immediately; drill one axis and one timing mode first.
